
How to delete a Word page
Whenever you want delete a Word page, it is good to distinguish the case in which we speak of a blank page and that in which, instead, we speak of a page that contains text, images, tables or other elements. The approaches to take, in fact, are different, even if all very simple.
In any case, before proceeding I advise you to temporarily enable the display of hidden characters. This is not an essential procedure, but you will need it in case you need to quickly spot any page / section breaks or blank lines.
To do this in the classic Microsoft Word for Windows or macOSclick here Home (top) and press the icon ¶ located in the section Paragraph. If you use Word Onlineinstead, go to the tab Home, click the icon (...) and press on the item Show / hide ¶. nell 'app in Word per smartphone and tablethowever, it is not currently possible to enable this feature.
Eliminate page and section breaks
If you want to delete a blank page in your document, the first step you need to take is to activate the display of hidden characters, which I told you about in the previous chapter.
Next, you need to look for the page breaks present in your document and delete them: this will cancel all intentional breaks in the text and delete the blank pages that follow them. To remove a page break, look for items marked with the word Page break within the document, select them and press the key Canc (o Backspace) on the computer keyboard.
The above procedure is valid for Microsoft Word and Word Online but not for the app of the same name for smartphones and tablets. In theapp in Word per smartphone and tablet, you will need to identify page breaks simply characterized by a series of blank lines in the document (visible by setting the mode Mobile device view in the tab View): once this is done, all you have to do is place the typing pointer on the empty lines and press the key Backspace of the virtual keyboard.
To delete, instead, the section breaks in Microsoft Word, all you have to do is locate the items marked with the word Section break following the same procedure that I indicated in the previous paragraphs relating to page breaks.
You just have to pay attention to the fact that the section break, as an element that mainly separates the layouts of the pages of a document, could lead to a different display of the contents. Therefore, my advice is to replace the section breaks with different ones, which you can find in the menu Layout> Breaks, taking care not to create blank pages.
Delete the page content
In some cases, instead of page or section breaks, you may find simple ones in your document blank lines which generate a blank page. By activating the display of hidden characters, you will be able to identify fly feet (¶) as filler characters of those empty lines, a sign that the author of the file created the blank page simply by rewinding for several consecutive times.
To delete blank pages created in this way in Microsoft Word for Windows and macOS and Word Online, select all fly feet and press the button Canc o Backspace on the keyboard to delete them. In theapp in Word per smartphone and tabletOn the other he, not being able to activate the visualization of the fly feet, what you have to do is identify the empty lines and position the typing pointer on them. Then press the button Backspace on the virtual keyboard, to proceed with their elimination, and that's it.
If the page to be deleted contains several elements, such as text or images, you can only delete it by highlighting all these elements and pressing the key Canc o Backspace. Sometimes, however, manual selection may not be effective, as some portions of the page may escape you.
In this regard, go to the page to be deleted e, in Word per PC, go to the card Home, then click on the icon ▼ located next to the button Find and select the tab go from the pane you see. Alternatively, press Ctrl+Alt+G (your Windows) or alt + cmd + g (on macOS) on the computer keyboard.
Once this is done, make sure the item is selected Page in the left sidebar, type page in the adjacent text field and click in go to select all the contents of the sheet to remove. Then close the panel, press the button Canc o Backspace on your computer keyboard and that's it.
How to delete Word page header
If you have added any headers in a page and now you want to remove them, you can do this on any version of Word (Microsoft Word, Word Online and Word app) with ease. So let's go in order.
in Microsoft Word by computer, you just have to move to the tab Inserisci and premere on pulsating Heading. In the menu that is shown to you, then press on the item Remove header, to delete it from the document. In Word Online the procedure is similar: in the tab Inserisci, first prize Header and footer, click the button options, on the right, and choose the item Remove headers and footers.
If you are working on a document fromapp in Word per smartphone and tablet, first double tap onheading e, after entering the edit mode, select the tab Header and footer, located at the top on a tablet or in the drop-down menu at the bottom of the screen on a smartphone.
At this point, select the voice Heading and then choose the option Remove header, to delete it permanently. If you also have elements in the footer, select the corresponding item (Footer) and press the button Remove footer.
How to delete Word page number
You mistakenly added a progressive numbering on the pages of a Word document and now you want to remove it? Nothing simpler. Know that in the next paragraphs you will find the procedures to perform this operation on any version of the program (Microsoft Word, Word Online and Word app).
in Microsoft Word by computer, reach the tab Inserisci and press pulsating Page number. In the menu that is shown to you, then click on the item Remove page numbers, to delete them from the document. In Word Onlineinstead, click the tab Inserisci and seleciona le voci Page Numbers> Remove Page Numbers.
If you want to do this fromapp in Word per smartphone and tablet, first double tap on the area where the page numbers are present e, after you have entered the edit mode, tap on the tab Header and footer at the top (from tablet) or in the drop-down menu at the bottom (from smartphone).
At this point, select the voice Page number and then choose the option Remove page numbers, to delete them permanently. It was simple, wasn't it?
Merge multiple pages of a Word file when printing
If you don't want to delete the pages of a document but only combine two of them in one to save paper and ink during printing, do this: if you use Word via Windowsclick on your button Fillet located at the top left and select the comme Print from the menu that appears. Then set the item 2 pages per sheet in the drop-down menu at the bottom left and starts printing the document. Easier than that?
I use a Mac? In this case the procedure you need to follow is slightly different. The first step you need to take is to select the item Print from the menu Fillet Word, then you have to expe the drop-down menu located in the center of the window that opens and you have to select the item layout da quest'ultimo.
Now set the pages per sheet in 2 (using the appropriate drop-down menu) and give the print comme to print your document consuming half of the paper originally planned. It wasn't difficult, was it?
The procedures indicated are the same as in Word Online: you will find the quantity of pages to be printed on a sheet in the print panel (File> Print> Print).
