How to remove metadata from photos

    Pixelgrade (Windows/Mac)

The first resource I want to advise you to use to remove metadata from photos is called pixel grade. It is free (but eventually it is possible to switch to the paid variant to unlock extra functions), agolable for Windows and Mac and allows you to view, delete and / or modify the metadata attached to the shots taken by acting on both individual information and in groups, according to need. It also has a nice user interface

To use it, connect to the software website and click on the button with the name of the operating system in use on your computer. When the download is complete, open the file obtained, click on Yes / Run and then Next. Check the box next to the item I Agre to accept the terms of use of the software and click again on Next three times in a row then press up Close.

If you are using a Mac instead, open the .dmg package you just obtained and drag the program icon in the window onto the folder Applications attached to the same then go to the folder Applications macOS, right click on the Pixelgrade icon, select apri and confirm your willingness to launch the app in a way that bypasses Apple's restrictions on unauthorized developers.

Once the program window appears on the desktop, click on the button Get started then presses the button [+] at the bottom left and select the photo or photos you want to act on. Alternatively, drag images directly to the program screen.

Now, select the photo or photos by pressing the button Selct All at the bottom left and click on the buttons, always present at the bottom, to remove the shooting date (Hidden data), data relating to geolocation (Rental) and the preview (Tumbnail). By clicking instead on Date, Title and Taken By you can, respectively, change the date the photo was taken, the title and the author's name.

At medica ultimate, click on the button Apply and then choose whether to create a copy of the original photo or not by responding to the warning that appears on the screen. If you chose to create an original image thing, it will be saved to the folder by default Images Of computer.

    Image Metadata Stripper (Windows/Mac)

Another software you can appeal to for the purpose in question is Image Metadata Stripper. It's super easy to use and has no frills. It allows you to work on one or more photos simultaneously to eliminate the metatdata in an extremely easy and immediate way. In short, it does not abound in terms of agolable options but does only one thing and does it great. Oh, I almost forgot, it only works on images in JPG and PNG format, it's free and can be used on both Windows and Mac.

You ask me how to use it? I'll explain it to you right away. First, connect to the program's website and click on the link corresponding to the version of the operating system in use on your computer. Once the download is complete, extract the ZIP archive obtained in any location on your PC and then start the file inside it.

If you are using a Mac, first drag the program icon to the folder Applications macOS and open it by right clicking on it, choosing the item apri from the menu that appears and then confirm the choice made.

Once the Image Metadata Stripper window is displayed on the desktop, click on the button Open Image File(s) which is at the top left and open the photos or photos in relation to which it is your intention to go to act. Wait a few moments for the chosen images to be processed and if no particular problems arise within a short time you will see a green message appear on the Image Metadata Stripper screen indicating the fact that the metadata has been removed and the amount of data deleted.

If you want to create a backup before cleaning specific data images, check the box next to the wording Keep Image Backup which is in the upper left part of the software window, while if you want the application to close automatically when the procedure is completed, remember to check the box next to the item Close this Application when done that you find at the top right.

    Exif Tag Remover (Windows)

If you are using a Windows PC and the above program has not thrilled you, I suggest you consider using Exif Tag Remover to delete the information recorded in your photos. Now, click on the button Next which is at the bottom, check the item Save cleaned images in this folder attached to the next screen and click the button in the shape of folder. All you have to do is click on the button Home e on that Si to remove all additional information from your photo. When the cleaning process is complete, click the button Quit.

If instead of deleting all the metadata from your photo you want to act only on some of them, in the third last screen that is proposed to you by Exif Tag Remover uncheck the box All supported and then uncheck the items that don't interest you. From the next screen you can instead make sure that the data relating to your photo are replaced with fictitious information. To do this, just check the box next to the item Obfuscate File Dates and make the necessary customizations.

If the resources I have already talked about have not been able to satisfy you in a particular way because you are looking for a tool that, in addition to allowing you to eliminate metadata from photos, also allows you to manage far and wide, then I would say that GeoSetter is the one for you. This is free software and is only agolable for Windows operating systems.
